Certified Pool-Spa Operator (CPO) Certification Program
With over 400,000 students trained since 1972, the Certified Pool & Operator® (CPO®) certification program is the world’s leading education and certification program for maintaining the safety of pools and keeping them open.
A CPO® is a person who has successfully completed a specific course of instructions sanctioned by the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA), formerly NSPF, for pools and spas. Training offered through this CPO® course will equip each operator with the knowledge, techniques and skills for optimal pool and spa operations. Everything learned in this course will help protect both the swimmers and the facility itself.
As an award-winning CPO® instructor with twenty-plus years of industry experience, your instructor will provide a thorough breakdown of mitigating any potential hazards. This will come with an emphasis on the importance of applying all tools learned for facility preservation and reduction of operating costs, as well as the standard of care expected from each facility’s CPO®. PHTA CPO® Certification is the world’s leading verifiable pool and spa training instruction. The Illinois Department of Public Health recognizes the CPO® as a verifiable certification. Qualification for eligibility of IACET Continuing Education Units (CEUs) is available.
COURSE OPTIONS
The curriculum of CPO® Certification course will cover information from the Pool & Spa Operator™ Handbook, local codes with supplement handouts and final exam review.
Two-Day Classroom –in-person engaging, course hours 7:30am to 4:00pm.
Virtual Class – virtual interactive, course hours 8:00am to 3:30pm.
Blended Format – hybrid option combines an 8-to-10-hour self-study online Pool Operator Primer Course (POP) with the CPO Fusion Course. Complete the POP Course and attend the second day of a two-day or virtual classroom course to complete the Fusion course and take the exam.
Please note that the certification is valid for five years, and Spanish materials are available upon request.
